Hi friends —
Welcome to 2022, or is it 2020 too?
Starting this post off acknowledging all of you and everyone you know just for making it this far into the pandemic with (some or most of) your wits still intact. TBH I haven’t been sharing newsletters because it felt inappropriate to add any more noise to the constant barrage of content we’re already accustomed to interacting with.
However there are a few kernels I’m cultivating that I’d like to share…
EWB (emotional well-being) Coaching
First, I’ve recently completed an NBHWC-approved (The National Board of Health & Wellness Coaching) coaching training program and am currently in a phase of building my coaching practice while acquiring national board certification by late spring 2022.
What does this mean for you?
As someone who has experienced adverse life events like family estrangement - toxic family - abandonment - grief - bankruptcy - parenthood - partnership - remote work - unexpected life changes and expanding uncertainty…
I’m here to help you meet CHANGE from a grounded & mindful stance where there is ample space to fully feel your emotions, set clear and sustainable boundaries with tech, and RESPOND rather than REACT to the complexities of life.
My role as coach is to help you see that you are in fact the expert on you, and I’m humbled to see that through while holding space. Though not a necessity in our work, part of this journey together may require time spent being with discomfort, discovering resilience, building upon tolerance for uncertainty, and revealing where — when left unaware — these innate aspects of our emotional lives would likely cause unforeseen (or seen) complications, sabotage, struggle, stagnation, and contradictions.
Our work will encompass communication and listening — strategy and mindset — mindfulness and somatic exercises — exploration and resolve. The methods I utilize are informed by my time spent earning professional certifications, over a decade of Chinese tea culture & mindfulness studies, working with and being coached by mentors, years spent as a freelance designer, being an actively conscious father & partner, as well as the invaluable lessons brought on by immense grief, seemingly insurmountable life events and challenges that have marked my life and made me who I am today.
Whether I’m coaching you individually, as a couple, or a distributed organization, I bring the same open curiosity and observation I bring to all clients — free from judgement, assumptions, or bias — and where I may feel inspired to offer my views, suggestions, or experiences from my life, I do so only with your express consent and permission.
Remember that I’m not an expert on you and am deeply invested in respecting and seeing your perspective and individuality, and the work we’ll do together will stay rooted in integrity, accountability, humility, humbleness, open curiosity, respect, and transparency.
We’re emotional beings with unique experiences and we’ve evolved well beyond one-size-fits-all-solutions. What do you need?
I’m available for 30-min sessions offered at sliding scale $0-$60 until further notice.
Support for dads
If you’re a dad (or are becoming one) and want a convivial, comfortable way to connect with other dads going through similar experiences, you’re in the right place.
Society would have us believe that we’re alone and isolated, and nothing could be further from the truth. In a culture that conditions us to live at odds with our emotional realities, let’s take the opportunity to break the mold and build a community of vulnerability, empathy, and support.
For ourselves. For our families. For a better world.
Meetings will take place monthly on the 1st Wednesday of the month from 8:30PM - 9:30PM PST.
Open to anyone who identifies as a dad.
Meeting link provided upon RSVP. Suggested donation is $10. No one ever turned away for lack of funds. Please email me explaining the situation and I’ll happily provide you the meeting link.
Partnering with Memo
I’m joining Memo to collaborate on workshops, content creation, courses, coaching, and a new podcast to be announced this spring…
You can pre-register for the first synchronous course we’re co-hosting in Q1 2022 …
