Hi, I’m Adam, and I want to help you get a grip on your relationship with tech.
This is a space for listening, understanding, and creating the possibility of spaciousness and sanity. This space is meant for you if you notice any of the following:
• you experience stress that is made worse by your use of technology, including social media
• the time you spend on the internet has come to feel compulsive
• you are having a tough time falling asleep because you’re wired in the evenings
• you’re a parent struggling to multi-task
• you are emotionally self-regulating with your smartphone
• you’re having a hard time focusing while working from home
• your anxiety and moods are clearly tied to what you’re reading on the internet
Please know that if any of this describes your experience, you are not alone. Far from it. You are not “doing it wrong.” We are, collectively, being manipulated. And there is a lot we can do together to take control of our relationship with the tech we are using in order to make that tech actually useful TO US. But we must have a strategy, and that strategy has to to tailored to who we are and what we actually do in order to work.
‘Digital wellness’ refers to the state of a person’s physical and mental health in direct relationship to their use of digital technology. More specifically, it focuses on actionable measures aimed at creating simple, personalized boundaries and habits of use that improve the way we feel and the way we live.
This is my passion. Because our attention and our time are the most important resources we have. Billion dollar businesses have sprung up in order to capture and sell our attention and our time. It’s high time we claimed them back on our own terms. I’m wrapping up my certification with the digital wellness institute next month, a course of study that has plunged me into thinking through the nitty gritty of what’s at stake here and how these strategies work in real time for modern, digitally oriented human beings.
